House of the Dragon is an American fantasy television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO. A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011-2019), it is the second TV series in the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik directed the first season.
House of the Dragon: Season 3 is the second season of House of the Dragon. It consists of eight episodes. It begins with “A Son for a Son” on June 16, 2024 on HBO and Max, and concludes with the finale on August 4, 2024. It is based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood.

The series begins around 100 years after the unification of the Seven Kingdoms by the Targaryen conquest, almost 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. Featuring an ensemble cast, the series depicts the events that led to the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the “Dance of the Dragons”.
In this second season, Westeros is on the brink of a bloody civil war, with the Green and Black Councils fighting for King Aegon and Queen Rhaenyra respectively.
